OHSAS 18001 Consortium

OHSAS 18001 Training & Implementation Consortium

We are in the process of starting a number of Group Training/Implementation Programs for organizations that want to become registered to the international OHSAS 18001 standard.

Participants in the Group Training/Implementation Program receive the following services over a twelve month period:

  • Group Training Sessions
  • On-site one-on-one Consulting Support
  • Assessments/Audits
  • Group Reporting Sessions
  • Presentations by Registered organizations

OHSAS 18001 is the most widely used international health & safety standard and continues to gain momentum throughout North America. Specifically, OHSAS 18001 is the internationally recognized assessment specification for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems. It was developed by a selection of leading trade bodies, international standards and certification bodies to address a gap where no third party certifiable international standard exists.

OHSAS 18001 has been designed to be compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 to help organizations meet their health and safety obligations in an efficient manner.

The following key areas are addressed by OHSAS 18001:

Planning for hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • OHSAS management programme
  • Structure and responsibility
  • Training, awareness and competence
  • Consultation and communication
  • Operational control
  • Emergency preparedness and response
  • Performance measuring, monitoring and improvement

OHSAS 18001 can be adopted by any organization wishing to implement a formal procedure to reduce the risks associated with health and safety in the working environment for employees, customers and the general public.

Workplace One Consulting Inc. provides implementation support to the following standards:

  • ISO 50001 – Energy Management System
  • TS 16949 – Automotive Quality Management System
  • AS 9100 – Aerospace Management System
  • ISO 9001 – Quality Management System
  • OHSAS 18001- Health & Safety Management System
  • ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System
  • ISO 13485 – Medical Devices Management System
  • ISO 22000 – Food Safety Management System
  • HACCP – Food Safety System

Our program is simple. We work with a number of organizations over a twelve month time period and facilitate the implementation of an OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety Management System. At the end of the twelve months, each organization is ready to be registered to the standard. Our new implementation process is based on our consortium learning model that we have been providing since 1993. It is cost effective and highly successful. We have helped over 550 organizations become registered to an ISO based standard.

The specific details of our group program are as follows:

Activity
Topics Covered
1
Gap Assessment
An assessment of the existing health & safety management system and practices of the organization. This is conducted at the client’s facility. The deliverable is a detailed report outlining the gaps that need to be closed to ensure the successful implementation of an OHSAS 18001 system.
